Comme des Garçons PLAY is a unisex line by Rei Kawakubo, introduced in 2002. It focuses on direct, recognisable design built from everyday garments, with t-shirts, knitwear, shirts, and casual outerwear forming the core. Shapes are standard and close to the body, produced in cotton jersey, shirting, and lightweight knits, with a palette anchored in black, white, grey, and navy, with signature polka dots and stripes.

 

The heart logo by Filip Pagowski is the Graphic identity defines the line. IT appears across garments in varying scale and placement, creating a consistent visual language through repetition rather and abstraction rather than reconstruction and new design.

 

 

Collaborations extend this system across product categories. The most sustained partnership is with Converse, applying the PLAY heart to Chuck Taylor and Pro Leather silhouettes in multiple iterations. French RAIN JACKET BRAND K-WAY, is their most recent collaboration with the line, Comme des Garçons Parfums,

 

capsule releases developed for some stores like DOVERSTREET MARKET, and COMME DES GARÇONS AOYAMA and Seasonal variations of with changes in colour, scale, and placement of the heart motif maintaining continuity across releases.
